Man Found Shot to Death at Channelview Motel During Fugitive Arrest Operation

CHANNELVIEW, Texas – A routine fugitive arrest at an east Houston motel turned into a homicide investigation Wednesday morning after deputies discovered a man fatally shot inside a motel room.

On Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at approximately 11:18 a.m., deputies with the Harris County Precinct 3 Constable’s Office, assisted by Harris County Sheriff’s Office deputies, responded to the Deluxe Inn Motel in the 15800 block of the East Freeway to execute a “Blue Warrant” for a parole violation related to a drug offense. The fugitive, wanted out of Louisiana, was located and taken into custody without incident.

While on scene, deputies noticed a broken motel window with what appeared to be bullet holes, along with spent shell casings outside a neighboring room. With assistance from motel management, deputies entered the room and found a man unresponsive.

The victim was identified as 33-year-old Jorge Gonzalez, who was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Emergency medical personnel responded but pronounced Gonzalez deceased at the scene.

Harris County Sheriff’s Office Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators responded and began a preliminary investigation. Detectives are actively following up on leads, and the motive for the shooting has not yet been determined.

Anyone with information related to this case is urged to contact the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit at 713-274-9100 or Houston Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS (8477).
