Texas A&M Police Investigate Series of Indecent Assaults Near Campus, Seek Public’s Help

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Texas A&M University Police are warning the campus community after receiving reports of multiple indecent assault incidents involving unwanted touching near popular areas around campus.
According to the Texas A&M University Police Department, three incidents of indecent assault and fondling were reported between January 24 and January 28, 2026. Two of the incidents were reported to a Campus Security Authority, and one was reported directly to university police. The alert was issued in compliance with the federal Jeanne Clery Campus Safety Act.
In the first incident, which occurred on Saturday, January 24th, at the Wolf Pen Creek Park bus stop, a male suspect approached the victim and initiated conversation by asking about the bus schedule, her name, and her relationship status. After complimenting the victim, the suspect shook her hand, then pulled her closer and grabbed her buttocks.
The second incident happened on Sunday, January 25th, around 2:00 p.m. at Century Square. Two male suspects approached the victim, asked for her age, name, and phone number, and complimented her. When the victim refused to share her personal information, one of the suspects grabbed her buttocks.
The third incident occurred on Wednesday, January 28th, at approximately 2:00 p.m. near Century Square. In that case, a male suspect approached the victim, complimented her, asked if she was single, and then grabbed her buttocks.
At this time, the identities of the suspects in all three incidents are unknown. University police note that the first incident was included in the alert because the suspect’s behavior matched the pattern seen in the other two incidents that occurred within Texas A&M’s Clery geography.

In addition to issuing the alert, university officials shared safety guidance for the campus community. Students and staff are encouraged to remainu be aware of their surroundings, trust their instincts, clearly communicate boundaries, report suspicious or unwanted behavior immediately, and be cautious of pretexts for physical contact. The department also advises limiting personal information shared with strangers, seeking help from others nearby when needed, and using a phone to contact authorities by calling 9-1-1 or using the Code Maroon app.
