Harris County Homicide Unit Probing Double Fatality in Katy-Area Home

KATY, TX – A quiet morning in a Katy-area neighborhood was shattered early Monday, January 12, 2026, when a couple was found shot to death inside their residence.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 3718 block of Bent Springs Lane at approximately 6:00 a.m. after receiving a 911 call from the couple’s adult son. The caller reported finding both his father and mother with fatal gunshot wounds.

Incident Details

Upon arrival, deputies and EMS discovered the man and woman in the downstairs portion of the two-story home. Both victims had suffered fatal gunshot wounds to their upper bodies.

Despite life-saving efforts by emergency personnel, the couple was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Inside the Home at the Time of the Shooting:

  • Two adult children (who were reportedly asleep upstairs).
  • A 7-year-old foster child, who reportedly fled to a neighbor’s house to seek safety.

Investigation Status

While the incident was initially assessed, Sheriff Ed Gonzalez confirmed on Monday evening that the case is officially being treated as a double homicide.

  • No Forced Entry: Preliminary findings suggest there were no immediate signs of a break-in at the residence.
