Lubbock Police Seeks Public Assistance in Identifying Suspect in Fatal Shooting Close to Airport

The Metropolitan Special Crimes Unit is asking for the public’s help in locating and identifying a suspect at large who is considered armed and dangerous in connection to a shooting in the early morning of Saturday, October 7, 2023.

Lubbock County Sheriff’s Deputies were called to the 9900 block of North Boston at approximately 1:32 a.m. on October 7th following reports of shots fired.

Upon arrival deputies located two males with gunshot wounds.

The first victim, identified as 56-year-old Dicky Ruiz, was transported to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

A second victim, identified as 46-year-old Andrew Mojica, was also transported to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

The Metropolitan Special Crimes Unit was notified and will be conducting the investigation.

Investigators are asking for the public’s help identifying and locating a suspect in that shooting. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Line at (806) 741-1000, Those with information leading to an arrest, could be eligible for a reward.
