Three Men Charged in 2022 Home Invasion That Killed Two in the Magnolia Park Area of Houston

Houston police have filed capital murder charges against three suspects in a deadly 2022 home invasion that left two men dead and another injured.
The suspects, Jacob Lee St. John, 24, Raul Gallegos, 23, and Damien Vega, 22, are all charged in the 177th Criminal District Court. St. John was arrested Tuesday, December 9th, by HPD’s Southeast Patrol Crime Suppression Team. Gallegos and Vega are already in the custody of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice on unrelated charges.
The case stems from a violent break-in on January 21, 2022, at a home in the 7100 block of Avenue Q in the Magnolia Park area. Officers arrived to find three men wounded. Two of the victims, Juan Ramirez, 41, and Apolonio Alvarado, 37, had been shot. A third man had been beaten.
All three were taken to a hospital. Alvarado died shortly after the attack. Ramirez remained hospitalized for more than a year before passing away from his injuries on June 1, 2023. The third victim recovered from non-life-threatening injuries.
According to investigators, several masked men forced their way inside the home and immediately began shooting and assaulting the victims before fleeing on foot.
Detectives later identified St. John, Gallegos, and Vega as the suspects. After St. John’s arrest this week, all three have now been formally charged for their roles in the deadly home invasion.
