Suspect Arrested in Connection to Fatal Shooting of Woman in La Marque
LA MARQUE, TX – On November 12, 2025, just before 6:00 p.m., Dickinson Police responded to a tip regarding the location of a suspect wanted in a murder investigation. Officers quickly located and detained the individual, later confirmed by La Marque Police Department detectives as 18-year-old Keith Ray Smith Jr.
Smith was taken into custody and charged with murder, with bond set at $1,000,000. Authorities credited the arrest to cooperation between multiple law enforcement agencies and valuable information provided by the community.
On Tuesday, November 10th, officers had responded to a shooting call at the 1200 block of Kirsten St. Upon arrival, they found a 36-year-old woman wounded. Responding personnel performed life-saving measures on the victim before transporting her to a hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries. After the shooting, Smith Jr. was able to successfully evade officers and flee the scene.
The La Marque Police Department praised the dedication and teamwork of all detectives and officers involved in the case, highlighting their efforts in bringing a dangerous suspect into custody.
