Man Admits to Church Burglary in Liberty Hill, Linked to Multiple Area Break-Ins

Williamson County, Texas – A 45-year-old man already in custody in Travis County now faces additional charges for breaking into a Liberty Hill church last month.
Detectives with the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office have charged Gregory Dwayne Vaden with burglary of a building, a state jail felony, following his admission to burglarizing The Vintage Church at 170 County Road 214. The church had its grand opening this past June. The incident occurred on September 28, 2025, when Vaden allegedly forced his way inside through the rear doors using a crowbar.
Investigators found evidence of forced entry throughout the church, including pry and cut marks on the pastor’s office door and other interior areas. Several items were reported damaged or disturbed.
Detectives say the burglary bore similarities to a string of other break-ins at churches and buildings in Jonestown, Travis County, Manor, and Austin. Witness descriptions and surveillance footage consistently showed a red SUV and a suspect matching Vaden’s appearance.
While being interviewed by investigators before his incarceration on separate burglary charges filed by the Austin Police Department, Vaden reportedly confessed to the Liberty Hill break-in. He told detectives he committed the crime due to struggles with drug addiction and financial debt.
Williamson County detectives formally served the arrest warrant on October 9, 2025, while Vaden remained in the Travis County Jail.
Commander John Foster of the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office praised the collaboration among multiple law enforcement agencies, saying the coordinated efforts helped close several related burglary cases across Central Texas.
“The success of this investigation came from the persistence and teamwork of detectives across jurisdictions,” Foster said. “We’re grateful to the Austin Police Department, Travis County Sheriff’s Office, Jonestown Police Department, Manor Police Department, and our community for helping bring resolution to these crimes.”
