Andrew Payne

BACLIFF, TX – The Galveston County Sheriff’s Office has arrested Andrew Payne, 35, following a fatal shooting that occurred early Wednesday morning outside the Meera Mexican Food Market. The victim, 56-year-old Adam Bolden, died from a gunshot wound.

At approximately 1:30 a.m. on August 6, a Sheriff’s Office deputy observed a disturbance and an active shooting. The deputy apprehended a suspect, identified as Payne, outside the store at 1125 Grand Avenue.

Inside, deputies found Bolden with a gunshot wound to his chest. He was transported to HCA Clear Lake, where he was later pronounced deceased.

A preliminary investigation by the Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit and Crime Scene Unit determined that Payne and Bolden, two white males, had engaged in a verbal argument that escalated into a physical fight. During the altercation, one of the subjects brandished a firearm and shot the other.

Payne has been initially charged with unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon ($200,000 bond) and resisting arrest ($1,500 bond). Detectives are consulting with the Galveston County District Attorney’s Office regarding potential additional charges.
