FRIENDSWOOD, TX – On August 1, 2025, at approximately 12:46 a.m., Friendswood Police officers responded to a report of a possible burglary in progress at a business located in the 1500 block of W. Parkwood Avenue.
Arriving within two minutes, officers observed a Ford sedan with a paper license plate and a Lincoln sedan leaving the vicinity of the business. Officers conducted traffic stops on both vehicles. During the stop, the passenger of the Lincoln attempted to flee by jumping over the barrier of the Chigger Creek Bridge. He was injured and later transported to a local hospital in critical condition after spitting on officers while aid was being rendered.
The other occupants—identified as Bijan Rashidi, 44; Tedrick Garland, 41; and Edgardo Ortiz, 46, all of Houston—were taken into custody. Officers recovered approximately $30,000 in stolen merchandise from the Lincoln sedan.

- Tedrick Garland: Theft – Bond set at $250,000
- Edgardo Ortiz: Theft – Bond set at $100,000
When commenting on the response of officers, Chief Rogers said, “Criminals who think they can come into Friendswood and commit crimes without consequences are mistaken. Our officers are highly trained, vigilant, and committed to swift, effective enforcement. Holding offenders accountable is what the Friendswood Police Department does best.”
