Man Shot by Deputies After Pointing Gun During Family Disturbance in Harris County

HARRIS COUNTY, TX — On Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at approximately 7:00 p.m., Harris County Sheriff’s Office patrol units responded to a family disturbance in the 10700 block of Wolsley Ct in Houston. The female caller reported she had been assaulted by her husband, who was armed with a handgun.

Deputies arriving at the scene made contact with the complainant, who confirmed the suspect was still inside the home. Three uniformed deputies approached the rear of the residence and encountered the suspect, identified as 66-year-old David Hinn. According to the Sheriff’s Office, Hinn failed to comply with commands and pointed a handgun at the deputies.

In response, the deputies discharged their firearms, striking Hinn multiple times. One deputy sustained a minor head injury, possibly due to fragmentation from bullet impacts.

Hinn was transported by helicopter and underwent surgery. He remains hospitalized, and charges of Aggravated Assault on a Public Servant are pending. He will be booked into the Harris County Jail once his condition allows.

The injured deputy was treated at a local hospital and held overnight for observation.

The incident is being investigated by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit, Internal Affairs Division, and the Harris County District Attorney’s Office Civil Rights Division. The case will be presented to a Harris County Grand Jury upon conclusion of the investigation.
