Motorcyclist Killed in Crash with Jeep at Atascocita Bend Intersection

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — A 29-year-old man was killed Monday after his motorcycle collided with an SUV at the intersection of Atascocita Road and Atascocita Bend Drive, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.

The crash occurred when a 57-year-old woman driving a 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee westbound on Atascocita Road attempted to make a left turn onto Atascocita Bend Drive. The vehicle was operating under a flashing left turn yield signal.

As she turned, the Jeep was struck on the right front quarter panel by a 2007 Yamaha motorcycle traveling eastbound. Investigators say the motorcycle may have been speeding at the time of the collision.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Jeep sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported by EMS to a local hospital.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office Vehicular Crimes Division is continuing to investigate the cause of the crash.
