Six Suspects Arrested After Auto Burglary, Gunfire Exchange in Odessa

ODESSA, TX – Six male suspects, ranging in age from 13 to 19, have been arrested following an attempted auto burglary that escalated into a shootout with a vehicle owner in the 1100 block of Honeysuckle on Thursday, July 10, 2025.
At approximately 11:54 p.m., Odessa Police responded to a report of an auto burglary in progress. The investigation revealed that six individuals were attempting to burglarize vehicles when the owner of one vehicle fired a shot at them. The suspects allegedly returned fire before fleeing the scene on foot.
Officers located the suspects in the 700 block of Jeter. All six individuals attempted to evade officers but were eventually apprehended.
The suspects are identified as 19-year-old Nicholas Garcia, 17-year-old Alexander Cadena, and four juvenile males aged 16, 15, 14, and 13.
The 16-year-old suspect was found in possession of a wallet containing identification cards, THC, and a loaded handgun with a partially scratched-off serial number.
All six subjects were charged with Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity (State Jail Felony), Evading Arrest (Misdemeanor A), and two counts of Attempted Auto Burglary (Misdemeanor B).
The 16-year-old also faces additional charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance PG2<1 gram (State Jail Felony), Tampering with Physical Evidence (Felony 3), Unlawful Carry of a Weapon (Misdemeanor A), and Tampering with Identification Numbers (Misdemeanor A).
No injuries were reported during the incident.
