Old River-Winfree Man Charged with Murder in Deadly Shooting

David Snapp of Old River-Winfree has been charged with murder following a deadly shooting at a residence in Old River-Winfree on July 1st. The victim, identified as Brian Yarbrough, also of Old River-Winfree, succumbed to his injuries after being transported to the hospital.

Chambers County Sheriff Brian Hawthorne reported that deputies, assisted by Mont Belvieu Police Department officers, responded to a shooting at approximately 9:35 PM. Upon arrival, deputies secured the scene and took Snapp, the victim’s father-in-law, into custody. Mont Belvieu Police and EMS initiated life-saving attempts on Yarbrough at the scene.

Yarbrough was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital but ultimately died from his injuries.

Detectives diligently worked the case, obtaining search warrants, processing the scene, conducting eyewitness interviews, and consulting with the Chambers County District Attorney’s Office. Snapp was subsequently charged with Murder and booked into the Chambers County Jail. His bond has been set at $500,000 by Justice of the Peace Precinct 2, Judge Mike Wheat.

The case remains under active investigation.
