Deputies Shoot Armed Suspect After Gunfire Disturbance at Houston Home

A man is in stable condition after an early morning deputy-involved shooting on Sunday in the 2600 block of Basil Point Court in northwest Houston, according to Harris County Constable Precinct One.

Deputies responded to a weapons disturbance involving a firearm at approximately 1:30 a.m. A suspect had reportedly been drinking heavily and was firing a gun into the air.

With the homeowner’s consent, deputies entered the residence and located the armed suspect on the back patio. Shots were fired during the encounter, and the suspect fled to a nearby residence after being wounded. No deputies were injured.

Deputies located the suspect shortly after and rendered medical aid before he was transported to a local hospital. The suspect, identified as 47-year-old Hector Reyes, is charged with aggravated assault of a police officer.

Per department policy, the deputies involved have been placed on temporary administrative leave. An administrative review is underway by Constable Precinct One, and the Harris County Sheriff’s Office is conducting an investigation in coordination with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office.
