Woman Arrested for Attempted iPhone Fraud on Gulf Freeway

On Wednesday, April 30, 2025, a Harris County Precinct 8 Constable’s Office deputy responded to a report of attempted fraud in the 19400 block of Gulf Freeway.
Store Loss Prevention reported that a woman matching the description from a recent BOLO alert attempted to purchase two Apple iPhones using a fake ID. The same individual had reportedly tried a similar transaction at another store earlier in the day and was denied.
Deputy Shawn Margison located the suspect at the store’s mobile phone counter. The suspect presented an Illinois ID card, claiming to be checking an account for her father. A store associate stated this was not the ID previously shown.
As Deputy Margison attempted to detain the suspect, she resisted. Following verbal warnings, the deputy deployed a TASER and secured the suspect.
The suspect was identified as 25-year-old Alexis Jones of Chicago, IL. A search of her belongings revealed additional fraudulent documents, including a Texas and a Minnesota driver’s license with her photograph but different identifying information.
Jones was arrested and transported to the Harris County Jail, charged with Tampering with a Government Record and Interfering with Public Duties.
