Angleton Man Crashes Into Four Vehicles While Fleeing Traffic Stop

A 26-year-old Angleton man is facing multiple felony charges after leading authorities on a vehicle and foot pursuit Tuesday afternoon that resulted in four vehicle collisions and the discovery of narcotics.

On April 29, 2025, at approximately 4:26 p.m., Angleton Police Department officers conducted a traffic stop on a black Nissan Murano in the 1000 block of South Anderson Street. The driver, identified as 26-year-old Salomon Smith, initially complied and stopped.

When officers asked Smith to exit the vehicle for a probable cause search, he fled the scene, prompting a vehicle pursuit involving Angleton Police, the Brazoria County Sheriff’s Office, and the Texas Department of Public Safety.

During the pursuit, Smith intentionally collided with three vehicles in the 900 block of Loop 274 in an effort to evade capture. The chase came to an end at the intersection of East Kiber Street and South Downing Street, where Smith struck a fourth vehicle, disabling his own.

Smith then fled on foot but was captured a short distance away. A subsequent search revealed narcotics in his possession.

Three individuals involved in the collisions were transported to area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.

Smith is currently facing the following charges:

  • Evading Arrest with a Vehicle – Third-Degree Felony (Enhanced)
  • Evading Arrest or Detention on Foot – Class A Misdemeanor
  • Manufacture or Delivery of a Controlled Substance (Penalty Group 3/4, 28g < 200g) – Second-Degree Felony
  • Possession of Marijuana (More than 4 ounces, less than 5 pounds) – State Jail Felony
  • Tampering with Physical Evidence – Third-Degree Felony

Authorities stated that additional charges may be filed as the investigation continues.
