Rosenberg Man Sentenced to 80 Years for Child Sexual Abuse
Carlos Portillo-Molina

Carlos Portillo-Molina, 45, has been sentenced to a total of 80 years in prison for aggravated sexual assault of a child and prohibited sexual conduct, following his guilty plea in November.

Portillo-Molina pleaded guilty to the charges on November 15, 2024. During a sentencing hearing on March 6, 2025, 434th District Court Judge Christian Becerra sentenced him to 60 years for aggravated sexual assault of a child and 20 years for prohibited sexual conduct with an ancestor/descendant.

Prosecutors presented evidence that Portillo-Molina began sexually abusing two children when they were 7-8 years old. In March 2024, one of the victims, now an adult, reported the abuse, which led to the second victim reporting her abuse and disclosing ongoing sexual abuse.

Upon being confronted by the victims’ family, Portillo-Molina confessed in detail to his past and ongoing sexual abuse to Detective Paul Martin of the Rosenberg Police Department.

The court heard testimony from Detective Martin, the defendant, and one of the victims, now a young adult, before sentencing Portillo-Molina.

Lead prosecutor Jazmine Smith commended Detective Martin for his effective interview, which secured the detailed confession. Smith also praised the survivors for their courage in reporting the abuse. “Hopefully these strong, young survivors can now move forward with the security of knowing the defendant can never harm them again,” Smith stated.

District Attorney Brian Middleton said, “This is a just outcome attributable to courage of the survivors, the dedication of law enforcement, and the passion for justice by my prosecutors. I couldn’t be prouder of the teamwork to make our community safer by holding this abuser accountable for his vile crimes.”

Assistant District Attorney Jessica Ramos assisted Smith in prosecuting the case.
