22-Year-Old Charged With Murder in Fatal Shooting at North Houston Motel

HOUSTON – A 22-year-old man has been charged with murder after a man was fatally shot at a motel in north Houston, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies were dispatched Tuesday, Sept. 29, to a shooting at a motel in the 13600 block of Rankin Circle West.
When deputies arrived, they found 34-year-old John Agege suffering from a gunshot wound near the intersection of Rankin Circle West and Rankin Road.
Agege was taken by private vehicle to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Harris County homicide detectives and crime scene investigators responded and began investigating the shooting. Detectives identified Kameron Jaquwan Cooper, 22, as the suspected shooter.
Cooper was subsequently charged with murder in connection with Agege’s death, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Members of the HCSO District 1 Crime Reduction Unit and the Texas Department of Public Safety Criminal Investigations Division’s Violent Crimes team assisted in locating Cooper. He was taken into custody and booked into the Harris County Jail.
Authorities did not release information about what led to the shooting, the relationship between Cooper and Agege, or where Cooper was arrested.
