21-Year-Old Sentenced to 30 Years for Murder in Travis County

On Thursday, December 12, 2024, a Travis County jury convicted 21-year-old Tajaurae Jones of Murder and sentenced him to 30 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.

The trial began with jury selection on Monday, December 9, 2024, followed by testimony starting Tuesday, December 10. The jury deliberated and delivered the guilty verdict and sentencing on the same day, December 12.

Jones was arrested on August 4, 2023, by the Austin Police Department for the murder of Ti’Jarious White, 19, which occurred on July 16, 2023. He was later indicted on October 30, 2023, for Murder and Deadly Conduct Discharge of a Firearm.

Assistant District Attorneys Habon Mohamed and Jacob Salinas prosecuted the case, supported by Investigator Fred Spencer, Victim Counselor Lolita Rattler, Paralegal Devota Swenson, and Legal Secretary Monica Hernandez. Detectives Randy DeLuna and Joseph Moran of the Austin Police Department led the investigation.
