21-year-old Drunk Driver Arrested in Fatal Crash on North Freeway

A suspect has been apprehended in connection with a fatal crash that occurred at 7500 North Freeway (North Interstate Highway 45) around 4:35 a.m. on Sunday, March 3.

The suspect, Thiago Ortega Gamaro, 21, faces charges of driving while intoxicated in Harris County Criminal Court #6.

The identity of the deceased male, also 21, is awaiting confirmation by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

According to reports, the incident involved a white Honda Accord traveling at a high speed northbound near the aforementioned location, with a male passenger on the hood of the car. The passenger was ejected from the hood, landing on the ground, and subsequently struck by one or more vehicles. Despite the swift response of Houston Fire Department paramedics, the male was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Ortega Gamaro, identified as the driver of the Honda, was found to be impaired and was subsequently taken into custody and charged for his involvement in the crash.
