2 Arrested After Street Racing Incident in Northwest Harris County; One Had Unsecured Child

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — Two people were arrested after deputies allegedly caught them racing at high speeds along FM 1960 in northwest Harris County, according to Constable Mark Herman’s Office.
Deputies said the incident occurred May 13, 2026, in the 3000 block of FM 1960 Road West when they observed two vehicles racing recklessly and endangering other drivers on the roadway.
Authorities conducted a traffic stop and identified the drivers as 26-year-old Nathan Jeffcoat and 22-year-old Hema Nava.
During the investigation, deputies discovered Nava allegedly had an unsecured child in the backseat of her vehicle during the incident.
Both suspects were arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail.
Jeffcoat was charged with Racing on a Highway. His bond was set at $100 out of County Court 1.
Nava was charged with Child Endangerment and Racing on a Highway. Her total bond was set at $10,100 out of County Court 1.
Mark Herman said street racing is dangerous and reckless, adding that the presence of a child inside one of the vehicles made the situation even more concerning.
