10-Year-Old Fatally Injured in Austin Crash

A tragic collision occurred on Monday, February 12, 2024, around 7:20 p.m., as confirmed by the Austin Police Department (APD). The incident took place in the 200 block of US 183 Toll SB lanes and involved two vehicles—a sedan and a hatchback.

According to the preliminary investigation, the sedan was stationary in the middle lane with its hazard lights activated when the hatchback collided with its rear. Inside the sedan were two juvenile passengers. Sadly, one of them, identified as 10-year-old DeErick Williams II, sustained critical injuries and later succumbed to them.

Fortunately, the driver of the sedan emerged from the collision unharmed and was found not to be under the influence of any impairing substances. Meanwhile, the driver of the hatchback sustained minor injuries but cooperated with authorities at the scene.
