Young Woman Arrested for Fatal Hit-and-Run in Austin

On Friday, October 27, 2023, at approximately 10:22 p.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to a crash between a vehicle and a pedestrian located in the 9300 block of Menchaca Road. The unidentified pedestrian died on scene. The suspect driver of the vehicle, 20-year-old Atira O’Guinn, drove away from the scene. On Saturday, October 28, O’Guinn was arrested and charged with Accident Involving Death, a 2nd Degree Felony.

This incident is being investigated as Austin’s 75th fatal crash of 2023, resulting in 78 fatalities for the year. On the date of this crash in 2022, 90 fatal crashes resulted in 93 deaths.
