Woman Killed in Apartment Shooting in Central Northwest Houston; HPD Needs Help Identifying Suspect

HOUSTON, TX – Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a woman Friday evening at an apartment complex in northwest Houston.

The shooting occurred around 7:45 p.m. on January 16 at 6200 West Tidwell Road. Officers with the Houston Police Department responded to reports of gunfire and found a woman suffering from a gunshot wound inside the entrance of an apartment.

Houston Fire Department paramedics transported the victim to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced deceased. Her identity has not yet been released, pending notification of family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

According to investigators, witnesses reported an altercation between the apartment resident and several individuals outside the unit. The argument escalated when the group approached the apartment door and continued to argue. At some point, a firearm was produced and the woman was struck by gunfire.

After the initial shot, multiple suspects allegedly opened fire toward the apartment, striking several nearby units that were occupied at the time. No additional injuries were reported. All suspects fled the scene before officers arrived.

Detectives say one male suspect was captured on video. He is described as a white male between 30 and 40 years old with multiple tattoos on his face and body.
