Woman Found Fatally Shot in Car on IH-35, Austin Police Seek Public Help in Investigation
The Austin Police Homicide Unit Detectives are urging the community for help in gathering information related to the shooting incident that claimed the life of Teressa Gandy Ferguson. On Saturday, September 30, 2023, at approximately 6:00 p.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to a crash reported in the 8500 block of N IH 35 southbound service road.
The authorities were alerted to the incident through an automatic emergency call made to 9-1-1 by an Apple iPhone, which detected a potential accident. However, when call takers answered, the line remained open with no one speaking. Moments later, additional 9-1-1 calls were received, reporting that a vehicle, with a seemingly unresponsive driver, had rolled down the exit ramp of IH 35.
Upon reaching the scene, officers discovered the vehicle and its driver, 46-year-old Teressa Ferguson, who had sustained an apparent gunshot wound. Ms. Ferguson succumbed to her injuries on-site.
Austin Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Specialists responded to process the scene and interview witnesses. This investigation is still active and ongoing. No arrests have been made at this time.
