Woman Fatally Shot Near Woods Behind Austin Car Wash

A 20-year-old woman was shot and killed late Friday night near a wooded area behind 506 E Rundberg Lane in what police are investigating as Austin’s 20th homicide of 2025.

At approximately 11:29 p.m. on April 25, Austin 9-1-1 received multiple calls reporting gunfire in the woods. Responding officers arrived to find an unresponsive Black female, later identified as 20-year-old Gabrielle Williams, lying on the sidewalk in front of a nearby car wash. Police said her boyfriend had carried her from a tent in the woods to the sidewalk to get help.

Williams had sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:30 a.m.

Homicide detectives and crime scene specialists responded to collect evidence and interview witnesses. According to investigators, Williams was standing near her tent with her boyfriend when an unidentified suspect opened fire and then fled the area.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Austin Police Department Homicide Unit at 512-974-TIPS. A reward of up to $1,000 may be available for information leading to an arrest.
