Woman Arrested for DWI With Child After Crash in El Paso County, 6-year-old Injured

EL PASO COUNTY, Texas — A 36-year-old woman was arrested early Sunday morning after deputies say she crashed into parked vehicles while intoxicated with a young child in her car.
On March 1, 2026, at approximately 4:10 a.m., deputies with the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office responded to a crash in the 13400 block of Cameldale Drive.
When deputies arrived, they found a blue Jeep Wrangler that had collided with two parked vehicles. The driver was identified as Jennifer Vivar, 36.
During the investigation, deputies observed signs of intoxication. A 6-year-old child was found in the back seat and was not properly secured at the time of the crash. The child sustained minor injuries.
Authorities said Vivar later provided a breath specimen of 0.161, more than twice the legal limit of 0.08 in Texas.
Vivar was arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated with a Child Under 15 Years of Age. She was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility on a $10,000 bond.
“There is never an excuse for getting behind the wheel while intoxicated, especially with a child in your vehicle,” said Sheriff Oscar Ugarte. “Driving under the influence puts innocent lives at risk and can have devastating consequences. We will continue to hold individuals accountable who make the reckless decision to drink and drive.”
