Woman Arrested at Cameron County Courthouse With Amphetamines During Security Screening
On Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at approximately 1:17 p.m., 48-year-old Allison Renae Wheeler was arrested at the Cameron County Courthouse in Brownsville, Texas, after a small bag containing suspected narcotics was discovered during a routine security screening.
Wheeler arrived at the courthouse, located at 974 E. Harrison Street, and began emptying her pockets into the security inspection bowl. A Cameron County Sheriff’s Deputy observed her place a small clear plastic Ziploc bag containing a transparent rocky substance into the bowl. Realizing the substance had been noticed, Wheeler retrieved the bag and attempted to return it to her pocket.
The deputy instructed her to put the items back in the bowl, and after several requests, Wheeler complied. The substance was tested using a narcotics field test kit, which returned a positive result for amphetamines.
Wheeler was arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1 (Texas Health and Safety Code 481.115(b)), a state jail felony. She was transported to Carrizales-Rucker Detention Center at 7100 Old Alice Road in Olmito, Texas, where she was booked and is awaiting arraignment.
