Jack Moore

On Monday, November 18, 2024, at approximately 1:46 p.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to a call about a deceased person at 6922 Bryn Mawr Drive. Upon arrival, officers discovered the body of 63-year-old Linda Mlsna and her deceased dog inside the residence.

Homicide detectives and crime scene specialists processed the scene and interviewed witnesses. The investigation revealed that Mlsna’s roommate, 84-year-old Jack Moore, was missing, and his whereabouts were unknown. It was later found that Moore had used Mlsna’s credit cards for fraudulent purchases after her death.

APD’s Tactical Intelligence Unit, in collaboration with the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force, located and arrested Moore on an unrelated warrant. During questioning, Moore confessed to killing Mlsna and her dog, stealing her credit cards, and planning to flee the country.

Moore, 49, was arrested and charged with First-Degree Murder. He was booked into the Travis County jail. This marks Austin’s 63rd homicide of 2024.

Authorities confirmed that no other individuals were involved, and there is no ongoing threat to the public. Anyone with information about the case is encouraged to contact the Austin Police Department or submit anonymous tips to Crime Stoppers.
