Victim Rescued in El Paso After Aggravated Kidnapping, Two Suspects Arrested
On December 9, 2024, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of an aggravated kidnapping in the 12300 block of Clifton Hills Rd. The Sheriff’s Office quickly launched an extensive investigation, enlisting the help of several agencies, including the El Paso Police Department, Horizon Police Department, the Texas Rangers, the FBI’s Violent Crimes Task Force, and the United States Border Patrol Special Operations Group (SOG).
The investigation revealed that the victim had been kidnapped in a violent attack, and efforts were made to locate and safely recover them. As part of the ongoing investigation, on December 18, 2024, the task force conducted follow-up operations and executed a search warrant at a residence located in the 600 block of Onate, El Paso. At approximately 11:35 PM, law enforcement officers entered the property and successfully rescued the victim, unharmed, inside the residence.
The victim was promptly evaluated at a nearby hospital to ensure their safety and health.
During the operation, two suspects, identified as Uriel Herrera Contreras, 40, and Jose Antonio Herrera, 44, were taken into custody. Both men have been charged with aggravated kidnapping and were booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility, each held on a $400,000 bond.
Authorities have not disclosed the exact details surrounding the circumstances of the kidnapping, but the Sheriff’s Office has emphasized that the victim’s successful recovery was a direct result of a coordinated, multi-agency effort. The investigation remains ongoing as detectives continue to gather information.
El Paso County Sheriff’s Office officials have vowed to continue their work with federal and local agencies to prevent violent crimes and ensure justice is served for those involved. The Sheriff’s Office also stressed that such criminal acts will not be tolerated, and the community can be assured that every resource will be used to uphold public safety.
