Vacant House Fire in South Acres/Crestmont Park Area

In the early hours of November 27, 2023, at 6:29 a.m., firefighters responded to a house fire in the 5300 block of Selinsky Rd. 77048 in the South Acres/Crestmont Park Area.

Upon arrival within five minutes, firefighters discovered heavy smoke and flames engulfing a 1-story house. The property, reportedly vacant with no gas or electrical service, posed unique challenges to the firefighting efforts.

A primary search was conducted, revealing no reported injuries. Despite the absence of occupants, the estimated damage to the property is valued at $90,000. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

The homeowner, who had passed away, left the residence unoccupied, with family members checking on it periodically. A total of 32 personnel from various firefighting stations, including Stations 23, 26, 46, 35, 36, 55, and 24, responded to the incident.

Firefighters executed an offensive attack, ventilated the home, and successfully extinguished the flames. Details regarding saved property are currently unavailable.
