Undercover Investigation Leads to Illegal Gambling Bust in Northwest Harris County

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — An undercover investigation by Constable Mark Herman’s Criminal Investigations Division led to the shutdown of an illegal gambling operation disguised as a movie rental store, authorities said.
Detectives received tips about suspected illegal activity at a business located in the 11100 block of Huffmeister Road in northwest Houston. An investigation confirmed the location was operating illegal gambling activities under the guise of a vintage movie rental shop.
Based on those findings, detectives obtained and executed a search warrant at the business.
During the operation, investigators seized more than $5,700 in suspected gambling proceeds, along with multiple illegal gambling devices and documentation tied to the operation.
Authorities said criminal charges have been filed against 54-year-old Ahmed Azfaal for Possession of Gambling Devices and Paraphernalia.
Officials noted that illegal gambling establishments often attract additional criminal activity and can pose risks to the surrounding community. The investigation remains ongoing.
