Two Laredo women were arrested on June 23 after a Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Trooper discovered over $40,000 in currency during a traffic stop in Webb County, part of an Operation Lone Star initiative.

A black 2017 GMC Acadia was pulled over on I-35 for a traffic violation. During a subsequent vehicle search, the Trooper found three bundles of cash totaling $43,760—two hidden inside a purse and one in a backpack.

The driver, Nadia Georgina Inurreta, 27, and passenger, Jackeline Joana Maria Inurreta, 23, both from Laredo, were arrested and charged with felony money laundering. The DPS Criminal Investigations Division (CID) is continuing to investigate the case.
