Two Houston Men Arrested After Walmart Theft and Foot Chases in League City

LEAGUE CITY, Texas – League City police arrested two Houston men following an organized retail theft at a local Walmart that led to separate foot pursuits and the discovery of multiple outstanding felony warrants, authorities said.

Jaelan Anderson, 24, and Javarius Thompson, 21, were taken into custody on January 12, 2026, after officers responded to a theft in progress at the Walmart located at 1701 W. FM 646. Police said the suspects forced open an electronics display case, concealed merchandise, and attempted to flee the store through the Automotive entrance.

Officers encountered the suspects as they exited the store. Both ran in different directions, prompting foot pursuits. Anderson fled under a fence toward a retention pond behind the store, where he was apprehended shortly after by Officer Hudgens. Thompson ran toward the front of the store and was captured following a brief chase by Officer Denzler.

Investigators recovered the stolen merchandise and returned it to Walmart loss prevention.

Anderson has been charged with Evading Arrest or Detention with Previous Convictions, Theft Less Than $2,500 with Two or More Previous Convictions, and Failure to Identify – Fugitive from Justice, with combined bonds totaling $122,500. Thompson was charged with Evading Arrest or Detention and Organized Retail Theft $100–$750, with bonds totaling $5,000.

Police also determined that both men were wanted on outstanding felony warrants for aggravated robbery out of Austin County. Anderson additionally had a felony theft warrant from Washington County. During the investigation, officers said Anderson initially provided false identifying information, which led to the discovery of his additional warrants.

Both suspects were transported to jail, and the case remains under investigation by the League City Police Department.
