Two Fatal Traffic Incidents on December 23rd  Under Investigation in Houston

HOUSTON, TX – Houston police are investigating two separate fatal traffic incidents that occurred on Tuesday, December 23, 2025.

The first incident happened around 4:35 p.m. in the 3500 block of Corder Street. According to HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sgt. P. Lee and Officer F. Serna, a white Chevrolet Cobalt, reportedly pursuing a gold Toyota sedan, ran a stop sign, lost control, and struck a 43-year-old female standing outside a gray Toyota Sienna. She was transported to a local hospital by Houston Fire Department paramedics, where she was pronounced dead. The male driver of the Chevrolet, 34, was detained and later released. No charges have been filed as the investigation continues.

The second incident occurred around 10:40 p.m. at 1300 North Wayside Drive. HPD Sgt. D. Griffiths and Officer J. Johnson reported that a black GMC Yukon traveling northbound struck a 45-year-old male cyclist in the intersection. Preliminary information indicates the cyclist failed to yield the right of way. Emergency responders pronounced the cyclist dead at the scene. The female driver of the Yukon, 38, remained at the scene and showed no signs of impairment.

The identities of both victims are pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. Investigations for both crashes remain ongoing.
