Two Conroe Sisters Indicted in Kidnapping and Forced Labor of Minor

HOUSTON, TX — Two Conroe women are facing federal charges accused of kidnapping and forcing a minor child into labor through abuse and threats, according to federal authorities.

A federal grand jury returned a two-count indictment on January 14 charging Tania Evette Garcia, 37, and Brenda Mariana Garcia, 39, in connection with the alleged crimes.

Prosecutors allege that between March and September 2025, the sisters kidnapped and abused the child. According to the indictment, the women physically restrained the victim using zip ties, repeatedly beat the child, and forced the minor to perform labor and services through threats of force, physical restraint, and ongoing abuse.

Brenda Mariana Garcia has already made her initial court appearance and remains in custody pending further proceedings. Tania Evette Garcia is scheduled to appear before U.S. Magistrate Judge Dena Hanovice Palermo.

If convicted, both women face up to life in federal prison and a possible $250,000 fine.

The investigation was conducted by Immigration and Customs Enforcement – Homeland Security Investigations and the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office. Assistant U.S. Attorney Luis Batarse is prosecuting the case.

Authorities have not released additional details about the victim.
