Two Charged in Fatal October Assault in Houston; One On The Run

Charges have been filed against two suspects in connection with the death of 69-year-old Alton Joseph Martin, who succumbed to head trauma sustained in an assault on October 29, 2024.
According to the Houston Police Department, officers responded to an assault call at 2400 Gregg Street at approximately 5:40 p.m. on October 29, 2024, and found Mr. Martin suffering from head injuries. He was transported to a hospital but died from his injuries on November 8, 2024. An autopsy determined his death was due to blunt force trauma.
Further investigation by HPD Homicide Division identified 38-year-old Marshall Paul Garrett and 50-year-old Latrecia Nicole Washington as suspects who assaulted Martin following a disturbance at 3302 Liberty Road.
The Harris County District Attorney’s Office was contacted, and charges were filed against both individuals on April 8th. Garrett is currently in custody at the Harris County Jail, charged with murder. Washington is also charged with murder but remains at large.
