Two Arrested in Connection with Harris County Smoke Shop Robberies

HOUSTON, TX – Detectives with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Violent Crimes Unit have arrested two suspects in connection with a series of armed robberies at smoke shops across Harris County.
17-year-old Jeffon Hamilton and 20-year-old Denim Marquise Hynes were taken into custody on October 31, 2025, following an intensive multi-agency investigation into the robberies at the Mad Dog Smoke Shop located at 948 FM 1960 Road West and the Vape City Smoke Shop at 608 West Mount Houston Road. Both suspects have been charged with Aggravated Robbery and Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity.
The investigation began on October 22, when deputies responded to an aggravated robbery at the Mad Dog Smoke Shop. Two armed suspects had stolen cash, merchandise, and personal property at gunpoint. Detectives were able to identify the suspect vehicle used during the crime, which ultimately linked the case to a similar robbery on October 28 at Vape City Smoke Shop.
On October 31, HCSO detectives, working alongside Houston Police Department officers and Texas Department of Public Safety agents, executed a search warrant at a residence connected to the suspects. During the search, law enforcement recovered clothing worn during the robberies, stolen merchandise from the smoke shops, and other evidence connecting Hamilton and Hynes to the crimes.
Detectives note that the investigation is ongoing, and there may be additional victims. Anyone with information about these incidents is urged to contact the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Violent Crimes Unit at 713-274-9365 or Crime Stoppers of Houston at 713-222-TIPS (8477) to provide information anonymously.
