Two Arrested in Connection to January Lakeline Mall Shooting

Austin Police Aggravated Assault Unit Detectives have announced the arrests of two suspects in connection to the shooting that occurred at Lakeline Mall on Thursday, January 2, 2025.

A juvenile male was arrested and booked into the Williamson County Juvenile Detention Facility, facing charges of Aggravated Assault and one count of Deadly Conduct. Additionally, 20-year-old Yaneth Medina was arrested and booked into the Travis County Jail, charged with Tampering with Evidence, a third-degree felony. Both arrests occurred on April 2, 2025.

The Austin Police Department had previously sought the public’s assistance in identifying and locating a suspect in the incident, which took place inside Lakeline Mall in the 11200 block of Lakeline Mall Drive at approximately 3:55 p.m. on January 2nd.

Initially, investigators were unaware that a victim had been injured, as the individual delayed seeking medical treatment. Evidence at the scene did not immediately indicate any injuries. It was later determined that the victim sustained minor injuries and self-reported to a hospital after leaving the mall.

Authorities are still urging anyone with information about this incident to contact APD’s Aggravated Assault Unit at 512-974-5245. A reward of up to $1,000 may be available for information leading to an arrest in this case.
