Two Arrested After Bar Altercation Turns Violent in Northeast El Paso

EL PASO, Texas — Two men were arrested after an altercation outside a northeast El Paso bar escalated into gunfire, leaving one person injured, police said.

Officers responded to a shots-fired call on January 10, 2026, at approximately 10:45 pm, in the Northeast area of the city and determined that a shooting had occurred near El Guapo Bar in the 8500 block of Dyer Street, according to the El Paso Police Department.

Investigators said an argument in the area escalated into a shooting. The department’s Gang Suppression Unit responded and took over the investigation at the scene.

As a result of the investigation, officers arrested 30-year-old Santiago Carrillo and 20-year-old Saul Angel Ramirez. Both were charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

A 27-year-old male victim was injured in the shooting and transported to a local hospital for treatment. His condition was not released.

Police said the investigation remains ongoing and additional information may be released as it becomes available.
