Two Arrested After 72-Year-Old Woman Killed in Northeast Houston Shooting

HOUSTON, TX – Houston police have arrested two suspects in connection with a deadly shooting that left a 72-year-old woman dead and two others wounded early Monday morning.

Officers were called to a residence at 4018 Lockwood Drive in the Kashmere Gardens area around 1:50 a.m. on January 26, 2026, after reports of gunfire. When officers arrived, they found three people suffering from gunshot wounds inside the home. Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced the elderly female victim dead at the scene.

Two additional victims, later identified as Tajuana Thomas, 38, and Richard Mouton, 34, were also found with gunshot wounds. Both were transported to a local hospital for treatment and remain hospitalized.

Investigators with the Houston Police Department Homicide Division determined through video evidence that Thomas and Mouton were involved in the shooting before and during the incident. After consulting with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, both suspects were charged with capital murder. The charges were filed in the 183rd Criminal District Court.

The identity of the deceased woman has not yet been released, pending notification of next of kin by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
