Two Angleton Police Officers Earn Recognition for Rescuing Driver From Burning Vehicle

On June 24, 2023, Cpl Cobos and Officer Ramirez of the Angleton Police Department responded to a major vehicle accident in the 2600 Blk of S Front St in Angleton, Brazoria County, Texas.

Upon arrival, they found a single vehicle engulfed in flames with a person trapped inside. Cpl Cobos entered the vehicle and cut the occupant’s seatbelt while Officer Ramirez helped move the individual away from the burning car. Their quick and precise actions saved the driver’s life.

Recognizing their bravery, the Angleton City Council awarded Cpl Cobos and Officer Ramirez with a lifesaver award on July 11th, 2023. Last week, on February 10th, 2024, they were honored with the Medal of Heroism by The Sons of the American Revolution Texas Chapter #33.

In a statement, the Angleton Police Department expressed pride in the courage, professionalism, and precision displayed by the officers during the high-risk and stressful situation, stating that it exemplifies the department’s mission to protect lives.
