Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Arrests After Attempted Evasion in Harris County

HOUSTON, Texas – A traffic stop for illegal window tint led to felony drug charges after deputies said a driver attempted to evade law enforcement before being taken into custody.

The incident occurred April 5, 2026, at approximately 7:04 p.m., when Harris County Constable Precinct 8 Deputy Cartlidge observed a vehicle with illegal tint on the front windows along the Gulf Freeway. As the deputy attempted to initiate a stop, the vehicle accelerated at a high rate of speed, exited the freeway, and made an evasive turn into a nearby commercial parking lot.

A second deputy, identified as Deputy C. Crider, later located the vehicle parked away from a business with occupants still inside. Deputies made contact and identified the driver as 42-year-old Michael Allen Bond, who was taken into custody for driving while license invalid.

During an inventory of the vehicle, deputies recovered approximately 28 grams of methamphetamine and a small quantity of cocaine.

The Harris County District Attorney’s Office accepted a felony charge of possession of a controlled substance between 4 and 200 grams against Bond. A passenger, identified as 26-year-old Millie Nykole Perez-Galindo, was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance under one gram.

Both individuals were transported to the Harris County Joint Processing Center without incident. Bond’s bond was set at $20,000, while Perez-Galindo’s bond was set at $2,000.
