Toddler Found Wandering Alone in North Houston, Mother Located With Active Warrants

HOUSTON, Texas — A toddler found wandering alone wearing only a diaper near a North Houston apartment complex has been safely reunited with a guardian, while the child’s mother was located nearby with multiple active warrants, authorities said.

Harris County Constable Precinct 4 deputies responded to the 16100 block of the North Freeway near Richey Road after receiving a report of a 2- to 3-year-old child walking alone near Building 26. Deputies quickly secured the child and ensured their safety.

During the investigation, deputies located the child’s mother in the Northpark Central area along Interstate 45. Authorities said the mother told investigators she had fallen asleep and did not realize the toddler had left the residence.

Further investigation revealed the mother had six open warrants for her arrest, including one for criminal mischief.

The child was released to a guardian at the scene. Officials said Child Protective Services will be notified and provided with the details of the incident.
