A collaborative effort between the Humble Police Department and Academy Sports staff led to the arrest of three theft suspects on Friday, November 22.
Officers were alerted by Academy staff that three individuals, previously identified as suspects in a recent theft at an Academy store in Houston, were inside the Humble location concealing merchandise. Houston Academy management provided screenshots confirming the suspects’ identities, enabling officers to prepare for their exit.
As the suspects attempted to leave the store with $3,141.76 worth of stolen Nike shoes and apparel, officers moved in. All three fled on foot but were apprehended within 100 yards of the store after a brief chase.
Officers King, Ibanez, Krezinski, Wheeler, Torres, and Sergeant Landrum coordinated the operation, ensuring the suspects were taken into custody without incident.
The suspects face charges of Felony Theft and Evading Arrest on Foot, with additional Organized Retail Theft charges pending. Houston police have also been notified, as the suspects are believed to be involved in a recent theft at a Houston Target store.
This operation highlights the strong partnership between Humble police and local businesses in preventing and addressing retail theft.
