Three-Month Investigation Leads to Major Drug Bust in Brazoria County, Suspect in Custody
On December 6, 2024, the Brazoria County Narcotics Task Force, assisted by the Brazoria County Special Response Team, the Southern Brazoria County SWAT Team, and the Texas Department of Public Safety, executed a search warrant at a residence in the 23000 block of SH 35 in Sweeny, Texas.
The operation, which concluded a three-month narcotics investigation, resulted in the seizure of approximately 655 grams of methamphetamine, 168 grams of cocaine, 326 grams of fentanyl, and 3.9 pounds of marijuana. The street value of the narcotics is estimated at $89,000.
Authorities also recovered three firearms, including two reported as stolen, and approximately $29,839 in cash.
The suspect, identified as Korey Tolbert, was taken into custody at the scene. He faces multiple felony drug charges, including:
- Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance in Penalty Group 1 – 400 grams or more (F1),
- Two counts of Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance in Penalty Group 1 – 200 grams or more but less than 400 grams (F1),
- Possession of Marijuana – Five Pounds or Less (SJF).
“This successful operation demonstrates the ongoing commitment of the Brazoria County Sheriff’s Office and its law enforcement partners to disrupt the illegal drug trade and enhance public safety.”, the Brazoria County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.
