Three Harris County Detention Officers Indicted Following Inmate Assault Investigation

HOUSTON, Texas – An internal investigation by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office has resulted in criminal charges against three detention officers accused of assaulting an inmate while on duty.
Detention officers Isaac Hernandez, 31, Isaac Serrato, 24, and Kevin Parker Jr., 27, have each been indicted on misdemeanor Assault Causing Bodily Injury charges stemming from an incident that occurred in March 2024 inside a county detention facility.
According to officials, the charges follow a completed internal use-of-force investigation conducted by the Sheriff’s Office. Details surrounding the incident and the inmate involved have not yet been publicly released.
All three officers have been relieved of duty pending further administrative action.
Per department policy, the case will now be reviewed by the Sheriff’s Administrative Disciplinary Committee, which will evaluate investigative findings and recommend disciplinary measures that could include termination.
The criminal case will proceed through the court system, and the accused officers are presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
