Three Arrested for Organized Retail Theft in League City

LEAGUE CITY, Texas—The League City Police Department’s Business District Unit (BDU) has arrested three individuals in connection with a multi-store organized retail theft operation.

On September 5, BDU Officer Martin was contacted by Kohl’s Loss Prevention regarding a theft in progress. The officer quickly located the suspect vehicle and, with assistance from other BDU and K-9 officers, safely detained all three occupants.

Inside the vehicle, officers recovered stolen merchandise from the League City Kohl’s and other items believed to have been taken from other stores. A subsequent investigation found that the suspects had also stolen from another Kohl’s in Houston, a Victoria’s Secret, and a third unidentified store.

The suspects were identified as:

  • Oscar Allen, Jr., 53, of Texas City
  • Joseph Rideaux, 62, of Friendswood
  • Alicia Smith, 58, of La Marque, who has 18 prior theft convictions.

All three were arrested and charged with Organized Retail Theft, a state jail felony. Each suspect’s bond was set at $60,000. The League City Police Department credited the BDU’s close work with local retailers for the successful apprehension.
