Three Arrested After Organized Retail Theft Scheme At Woodlands Convenience Store

THE WOODLANDS, Texas — Three Houston men were arrested Thursday after Montgomery County deputies said they coordinated an organized retail theft scheme at a convenience store in The Woodlands.
According to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, members of the Crime Reduction Unit were conducting proactive patrols and surveillance Jan. 22 near Sawdust Road and Grogan’s Mill Road when they observed three men enter a 24-hour retail store. Deputies maintained surveillance as the men moved throughout the business and conducted a traffic stop shortly after they left the store.
The suspects were identified as Khahli Deshun Wheeler, 33, Ladavion Jaquan Osby, 23, and Jayden Keshawn Haynes, 19, all of Houston.
Investigators determined the three men worked together to distract the store clerk, allowing one suspect to enter a restricted storeroom and steal hundreds of dollars’ worth of cigarettes. Deputies recovered the stolen merchandise and returned it to the retailer.
Wheeler, who deputies said is currently on parole for aggravated assault, was charged with organized retail theft and possession of marijuana. Osby was charged with organized retail theft and was also found to have two outstanding warrants for probation violations related to smuggling charges out of Uvalde.
Haynes was charged with organized retail theft and failure to identify as a fugitive. Deputies also discovered multiple outstanding warrants for Haynes, including a probation violation for robbery out of Harris County, a warrant for organized retail theft out of Galveston County, and two felony theft warrants from Louisiana.
All three suspects were transported to the Montgomery County Jail.
