Three Arrested After High-Speed Chase and Crash on South Gulf Freeway in League City

Three suspects are in custody after a late-night vehicle pursuit along the South Gulf Freeway ended in a crash and foot chase, according to the League City Police Department.
Around 11:50 p.m. on Friday, October 24, 2025, Officer Chipres observed a black Nissan Sentra speeding southbound in the 1500 block of South IH-45. When the officer attempted a traffic stop, the driver refused to pull over, initiating a pursuit.
The chase continued as the suspect vehicle exited at Holland Road in Texas City and proceeded along the feeder road before entering a single-lane construction area near FM 1764. The vehicle eventually lost control and came to rest in a grassy ditch north of Delaney Road.
All three occupants fled on foot while passing a bag between them. Officer Chipres, with the help of additional responding officers, detained the suspects after a short pursuit. Officers recovered narcotics at the scene.
The driver, a 16-year-old male from Galena Park, was charged with Evading Arrest/Detention with a Motor Vehicle and Possession of a Controlled Substance PG 2 (≥4g <400g). Two additional suspects, Daniel Jimenez (17) of Houston and Maya Ruiz (17) of Galena Park, were charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance PG 2 (≥4g <400g) (bond set at $10,000 each) and Evading Arrest on Foot (bond set at $2,500 each).
During the incident, one League City police officer responding to the pursuit was involved in a crash with a charter bus on the feeder road between FM 1764 and Delaney Road. The bus driver and the officer, both conscious and alert at the scene, were transported to a local hospital for evaluation.
The Galveston County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the collision involving the officer.
